  • Because of United Way...
    engaged youth
United Way supports Whitevalley Community Resource Centre's Community Pride program for youth. Over 30 community youth participated in Community Pride with each youth providing up to forty hours of their time. Over 15 community events, projects and weekly work opportunities were filled by local youth who gained valuable social, work, communication, life and employment skills allowing them to better prepare themselves to enter the labor market. Youth gain pride in their community and the community comes to value their youth.
  • Because of United Way...
    healthy, successful children
With support from United Way; Enderby Family Place had 2,211 visits last year to a program for parents of 0-6 year olds where they can get information on services and programs available for them and their pre-schoolers. They are also provided with a hot, nutritious lunch - all free of charge. This program has significantly improved the school readiness of Enderby's children over the past three years.

United Way of North Okanagan Columbia Shuswap is committed to building strong and healthy communities for all. United Way of North Okanagan Columbia Shuswap supports 30 programs and services throughout the area. We build non-profit sector capacity by helping agencies strengthen their services to assist those in need. For the United Way, this means working with agencies, community services, and other organizations to understand the needs of people within our communities. The role of the United way is to match the resources of the community to those areas of greatest need. Our success at the United Way is not measured by a thermometer but rather by our increased capacity to care for one another.
